First of all, thank you for using Holland WordPress theme.
This documentation covers the installation, setup, and use of this theme and provides answers and solutions to common problems and issues. If you’re stuck with anything, Please use our Support Section.
Please note that this support only for premium users.
If you haven’t downloaded the theme yet you can get it from here.
Holland Premium WordPress Theme
Holland WordPress Theme Free Version (from WordPress.org).

Install Holland Premium Theme

You need a working version of WordPress 4.2 and above.

There are two methods to install the theme. If the normal installation (Method 01) is not supported by your web host, you will have to use the FTP method (Method 02)

Method 01 (Normal Installation)

  1. Login to Airthemes.net account using your login details.(User name and Password has been sent to your email when you purchase the theme) Download holland-pro-v1.x.x.zip on download page. (Or you can download holland-pro-v1.x.x.zip file from payment details page or email receipt)
  2. Login to your site admin page and go to Appearance -> Themes.
  3. Click on the Add New button.
  4. On the next screen, click on the Upload Theme button at the top.
  5. Now, click the  Choose File button and choose the holland-pro-v1.x.x.zip file that you downloaded earlier. Select the file and click Install Now.
  6. Once your theme is successfully installed, you’ll see a activate link. Click on the Activate link, and you’ve successfully installed and activated Holland Premium.
Important:

Go to Appearance > Install Plugins and install and activate all required plugins.

Method 02 (FTP Installation)

  1. Login to Airthemes.net account and download holland-pro-v1.x.x.zip on the download page. (Or you can download holland-pro-v1.x.x.zip file from payment details page or email receipt)
  2. Use your FTP software to browse to wp-content/themes folder.
  3. Unzip holland-pro-v1.x.x.zip and upload the holland-pro folder.
  4. Once it’s uploaded, login to WordPress Admin and browse to Appearance > Themes.
  5. Click the Activate link.

Note: If you have existing images, You should regenerate thumbnails using Regenerate thumbnails plugin Run it from Tools > Regen. Thumbnails.

Update API Key

Your Holland Premium theme API key has been generated automatically when you purchased the theme. Follow these steps and activate your API key and keep theme alert to new theme updates.

  1. Login to your Airthemes.net account and go to the Download page.
  2. Copy Holland Premium API key.
  3. Login to your site and go to Appearance -> Theme License.
  4. Paste your API key in the “License Key” box and click save changes.
  5. Click “Activate License” button. Your license will be activated.

When we release a new update, you can see “New version available” message on Holland Premium theme in Appearance -> Themes now.

Install the Holland Free Version

You need a working version of WordPress 4.2 and above.

  1. Go to https://wordpress.org/themes/holland/ and Download the Holland zip file from wordpress.org theme directory
  2. Login to your site admin page and go to  Appearance -> Themes.
  3. Click on the  Add New button.

  5. Now, click the  Choose File button and choose the holland.1.x.x.zip file that you downloaded earlier. Select the file and click Install Now.
  6. Once your theme is installed, you’ll see a activate link. Click on the activate link, and you’ve successfully installed and activated Holland.

Method 02 (FTP Installation)

  1. Go to https://wordpress.org/themes/holland/ and Download the Holland zip file from wordpress.org theme directory
  2. Use your FTP software to browse to wp-content/themes folder.
  3. Extract holland.1.x.x.zip and upload the holland folder.
  4. Once it’s uploaded, login to WordPress Admin and browse to Appearance > Themes.
  5. Click the Activate link.

Note: If you have existing images, You should regenerate thumbnails using Regenerate thumbnails plugin Run it from Tools > Regen. Thumbnails.

Import Demo

Please make sure you have installed the “Redux Framework” plugin before import demo data. If not, Please go to Appearance -> Install plugins and install and activate Redux Framework plugin.

  1. Download Demo Data file from your Airthemes.net account.
  2. Unzip holland-pro-demo-content.zip file and get holland-pro-demo-content.xml file
  3. Log into your site as an administrator.
  4. Make sure you activated your new theme before proceeding.
  5. Go to Tools → Import
  6. Choose WordPress from the list.
  7. Upload the demo holland-pro-demo-content.xml using the form provided on that page.
  8. You will be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the blog. For each author, you may choose to map to an existing user on the blog or to create a new user.
  9. You will then have the choice to import attachments, so click on the “Download and import file attachments” box.
  10. Please be patient while WordPress imports all the content. Posts, Pages, and Menus are imported.

You will need to assign the menu a theme location & you’ll need to configure widgets. This is a limitation of WordPress’ import system.

Adding Posts

You can add posts using WordPress general posts adding method.  Also here are instructions to use featured images.

Featured Image

While the theme can function without featured images, it’s highly recommended that you add a featured image to each post. This not only makes your site/blog lively but also improves the user experience.

Image size will depend on your layout width. We’re recommended 1170 x 780 size for the better working on the slider, thumbnails, and single posts. Holland uses WordPress cropping function for crop images for all sizes.

To set the featured image, use the WordPress normal method.

Note: If you have existing images, you should regenerate thumbnails using Regenerate thumbnails plugin: . Run it from Tools > Regen. Thumbnails.

Customize Single Post

Go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Blog -> Single Post

There are options to enable or disable elements on post single page.

After completing your changes, click on Save Changes button to save the changes.

Setup Main Menu

Follow these instructions to add main navigation menu.

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress menu.
  2. Click on Create a new menu link.
  3. Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button.
  4. Now choose the pages, categories, custom links from the left side of your screen by selecting the checkbox and click on Add Menu.
  5. To use this menu as the main navigation click Top Menu checkbox under the Display location.
  6. Click Save Menu and that is all.

Setup Site Layout

Click on the Appearance -> Theme Options ->  Layouts

Set your site Default Layout to the left sidebar, right sidebar or full width layout.

Content Width(px)

Change the site container width using this option.

Archive Layout

This setting is used in your site Category, Search, Author, Tag, and Archive pages.

Home Layout

This setting is used in your site home page.

Single Post Layout

This setting is used in your site single blog page.

Page Default Layout

You can set your site page default layout here. This option applies for all pages in your site. If you want to change page layout separately, change page Template as “Full Width Page”, “Left Sidebar Page”, “Right Sidebar page” in the page editor.

After completing your changes, click on Save & Publish button to save the changes.

Setup Header

Change Site title, Tagline, and Upload Logo, Favicon 

Click on the Appearance -> Customize -> Site Identity and do your changes here.

To setup header options, Click on the Appearance -> Theme options -> Header to set up your header.

Social Icons

To add social icons, Please go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Social Links

After completing your changes, click on Save & Publish button to save the changes.

Setup Social Icons

Click on the Appearance -> Theme Options -> Social Links

Set the URLs for your social media profiles here to be used in the Header and Footer. You can hide social icons in header or footer using “Show/Hide Header Social Icons” and “Show/Hide Footer Social Icons” in header and Footer theme options panel.

Keep the fields empty if you don’t want to use perticular social profile.

After completing your changes, click on Save & Publish button to save the changes.

Setup Slider

Before you set up the slider you need to add one or several posts with their Featured Image. Featured Image size will depend on your layout width. We’re recommended 1170 x 780 size for the better slider alignment without stretching.

Click on the Appearance -> Theme Options -> Slider. The slider can be customize using these options.

Show/Hide Slider

You can enable or disable the slider using this options.

Slider Posts

You can choose which posts shown on the slider using this option.

  • Recent Posts

Add your site latest posts.

  • Popular posts

Add your site popular posts. Popularity detects from your posts comments count.

  • Random Posts

Show randomly generated posts.

  • Custom (Add Posts by IDs)

You can add posts using post IDs. When you choose this option “Posts IDs” text box will appear bottom. Post IDs can be added there. If you can’t find Post IDs, Please follow this tutorial.

Slider Category

Filter posts by using post categories. If you don’t use category filter Please keep “All” option.

Number of Posts

The maximum number of post to show on the slider.

Automatically Transition

Enable or disable the slider automatically transition.

Customize Slider Effect & Times

Also, You can change slider Transition Mode, Transition Speed & Pause Time.

After completing your changes, click on Save & Publish button to save the changes.

Setup Home

Your sites 10 recent posts show on homepage. If you want to change number of posts showing on home page Please go to Settings -> Reading and change number of posts under the Blog pages show at most.

Adjust the style and layout

Click on the Appearance -> Theme Options -> Blog

You can select standard, list, grid layouts under the Blog Default Style option. Also, you can enable or disable elements in the post list using these options.

After completing your changes, click on Save & Publish button to save the changes.

Sidebars & Widgets

Holland has 1 default Sidebar, 3 footer widget areas, and footer Instagram widget.

You can insert any widgets into each area.

To set up widgets, go to Appearance » Widgets and use the drag and drop interface to insert widgets into the desired widget areas.
As an addition to the built-in WordPress widgets, Holland Premium also has 6 custom widgets.

About Me

About Me widget displays your short bio and your profile image.

Ad Unit (300×250)

This widget displays google adsense Ad or 300px X 250px banner Ad.

Facebook Like Box

This widget displays facebook like box.

Posts List

A widget that displays recent posts, popular posts & random posts. All posts can be filtered from a category.

Social Icons

This widget displays your site social icons in your sidebar. You should set your social links in the

Appearance » Customize » Social Links.

Instagram Widget

Important: Please make sure you have installed WP Instagram Widget Plugin on our recommended plugin list. If not, Go to Appearance -> Install Plugins and install and activate WP Instagram Widget plugin.

Photo Size

  • Thumbnail
    3 images are displayed in one row.
  • Small
    2 images are displayed in one row.
  • Large
    1 images are displayed in one row.

Setup Footer

Holland Premium has 3 footer sections, Footer Instagram widget section, Footer Widget section and Footer Socket section.

Footer Instagram Widget

Important: Please make sure you have installed WP Instagram Widget Plugin in our recommended plugin list. If not, Go to Appearance -> Install Plugins and install and activate WP Instagram Widget plugin.

To add the Instagram widget, go to  Appearance » Widgets.

On the right, there is a widget area called Instagram Footer. Drag the “Instagram” widget from the left of this screen into the “Instagram Footer” widget area and edit widget settings.

Title

The title will display on the images.

Username

Your Instagram account username.

Number of Photos

Number of photos show on your footer widget area.

Photo Size

The size of Instagram images.

  • Thumbnail
    10 images are displayed in one row.
  • Small
    8 images are displayed in one row.
  • Large
    6 images are displayed in one row.

Link Text

This text will not be used in the footer section.

Footer Widgets

By default, you’re supposed to use 3 widgets in the footer. You can disable or change number of widgets by changing Footer Widgets options in  Appearance » Theme Options » Footer.

To setup footer widgets, go to Appearance » Widgets and use the drag and drop interface to insert widgets into Footer 1, Footer 2, Footer 3 widget areas.

Footer Socket

This footer section is used for copyright message.

Go to Appearance » Theme Options » Footer

  • Footer socket can be On/Off using Show/Hide Footer Socket option.
  • Add your copyright message to Copyright Content box.
  • Copyright message can be On/Off using Show/Hide Footer Copyright option.

After completing your changes, click on Save & Publish button to save the changes.

Styles (Color)

Holland Premium supports the option to change the color setting for your site, according to which you want for your site.

Go to Appearance » Theme Options » Styles

Here are many lists of the color options, so, check them individually as it has lots of it we could not cover all of them at once here. But, the section available here are;

Main Styles

This section covers the general color settings of your site.

Header Styles

This section covers all the color settings, which cover the header area.

Slider Styles

This section covers all the color settings, which cover the slider section.

Sidebar Styles

This section covers all the color settings, which cover the sidebar area.

Footer Styles

This section covers all the color settings, which cover the footer area.

Background Color

This section covers background area colors.

Typography

Holland Premium supports the option to change the typography setting for your site, according to your requirements.

Go to Appearance » Theme Options » Typography

Here are lists of the typography options, you can change your site font family, font weight, font size and line height individually.

Update Holland Premium

Note: You should update API key to get this message. If you haven’t update API key yet, Click Here.

When available new version, you can see “New version available” message on Holland Premium theme in Appearance -> Themes. Click update now.
